2 page magazine spread

My magazine spread is based on photography. While i was sketching my thoughts out I came up with two designs, i tried both designs separately and felt they did not look great so had the idea of combining the two. The film negative is there to separate the two pages, it was drawing using the pen tool and all the little squares were drawn and put in individually. The camera on the right side is exerting pictures which go from black to colour, this was done to show the evolution of photography. In order to do this i work on photoshop to put all the pictures individually. The camera lens was original a 3D image which I played around with on photoshop to make it look like this. The text coming out of the camera lens shows that your imagination of a perfect picture is coming to life through the help of the lens.

my inspiration

This piece inspires me because it is simple yet very attention grabbing. The layout of the text is symmetrical to the position of the lady’s dress. There is a lot of contrast and it has lots of negative and positive space which inspired me to do the same for my spread.

My article

The article I chose to do my magazine spread on is called “ Learning to See Creatively” by Ken Caleno. It is based on photography and the ways you can think creatively when taking pictures. The reason I chose to do my spread on this article is because I am intrigued by photography and always wondered what I can do to make my pictures look more appealing to the eye instead of the typical, everyday picture. This article inspired me and also gave me a wide range of material to work with when it came to designing my own spread for the article.
